Subject: Rising instances of rogue behaviour of taxi and auto drivers

Dear Sir/Madam,

With due respect, I would like to ventilate the penance suffered by daily commuters while travelling by auto and taxi and would like to draw the attention of the civil administration through your esteemed daily.

For daily commuters travelling by taxi and auto are usual. Those who can afford hire taxi, otherwise we prefer auto. But the extreme hackle that we face while plying is just the same. Maltreatment by drivers has grown many folds over these days. Drivers often indulge in unethical practices like charging an extra fare, misbehaviour often assaults the commuters irrespective of age and gender. While passengers get assaulted, many a time police remain silent and the indifference cost extra to the suffering. Besides denying to ferry passengers on long distance route or at night has become a growing menace.

While it is true that not the drivers indulge in misbehaviour, some even try to help passengers at their own cost but it is those few who are making situation chaotic. The Civil administration should frame guidelines to ease the public suffering. Police shouldn't bear cold shoulder and help the passengers. Turning more taxis 'no-refusal' taxi is an immediate necessity and strict vigil, public grievance redressal can reduce the amount of torment. The government should come up with a three-wheeler policy, and make routes and fare rate transparent.

It will be a great pleasure if the plight can be addressed through the column of daily.

Kolkata, Month Date:    Extensive human dominance in nature's own set up has aggravated the consequence and environmental pollution is domination the way of life. From most-debated global warming to El-Nino all have found a reason to disrupt human life, thanks to environmental degradation.

Over the last few decades, the earth has shown the level to which humanity has inflicted damage to it. Unlimited demand backed by cultural and industrial revolution undermined the necessity of preserving. Waste dumping and use of plastic materials have left a serious effect. Cutting edge technology meant to provide comfort is actually affecting natural balance and surrounding species to whom humans are really helpful, are facing the heat. Many species failed to cope with the abnormal changes, have become extinct and many are on the danger list. Converting forest and wetland to agricultural and habitable land are one of the reasons for it.

While the temperature of the earth is expected to rise 2 degrees on an average, the necessity to find a cure is urgent. The entire human race is on the blessing of mother earth and environmental pollution is inflicting her health. Development should be oriented to bio-diversity and bio-reserve to find a sustainable development. By shedding apathy and preserving nature, the damage can somehow be mitigated. Use of eco-friendly materials should now be need than fashion.

Entire civilisation depends on nature and natural occurrences, so any misadventure to alter it would be detrimental and make the planet inhabitable. Environmental pollution must be contained to restore mother earth.

I am in firm belief that you (Sister Nivedita) have a great prospect in the services of India. Indians are in dire need of a lion-hearted woman who can serve for the upliftment of Indian women. There is a certain gap in India which is lagging it in producing the eminent women, so help from someone from other race may bridge the gap. Your education, perseverance, deep affection and firmness makes you the ideal woman who can be fitted in the current circumstances. But many hurdles may come on your way. Plight, superstition, slavery etc has engulfed the country to an extent more than your imagination. You may find yourself in a situation surrounded by conspicuous eyes of man and women. They have a deep understanding of caste and untouchability. Be it fear or hatred, they maintain their distance from the whites and whites too despise them from their heart. On the contrary, whites will treat you as freaky and all your actions will remain suspicious of them.
